Microsoft Deploys Smartphone-Based Tech at Dehradun RTO

– November 4, 2020

Microsoft Research’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) project is aimed at automating the driver’s license test, made possible through a smartphone. The smartphone is attached to the windscreen of your vehicle without an evaluator present during the DL test. It has tied with the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. The project is known as HAMS (Harnessing AutoMobiles for Safety), monitors drivers and their driving with the goal of improving road safety. Through this project, the main aim is to reduce the influence of the evaluator and make the process objective and transparent to individuals applying for a DL. The front and rear camera, and other sensors of the smartphone monitor the driver during the test. It also monitors the distance between cars in the front, etc.
